We were 12.25 miles from the launch, so we could not see the shuttle on the ground. Half of the crowd adamantly said the shuttle was going to launch from one place along the horizon and the other half adamantly said a different place a few degrees to the left. I had no idea so I guessed, and went w/ the wrong group. By the time I was able to recompose the shot, the shuttle had already turned a bit and I got this photograph of the underbelly. Can you say "Dis-a-point-ing"? Shame on me for not doing the research in advance. :)

04/05/2010 6:21 am - STS-131 Space Shuttle Discovery launches into orbit in the minutes before dawn, leaving a beautiful reflection through the light fog on the Intracoastal Waterway in Ponte Vedra, Florida, 115 Miles from the launch. I've been getting many questions about the settings I used for this photo; I shot this with a Canon EOS Rebel T1i and a Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM lens, at 17mm.
